İnce ve Zarif bir cılıbıttır. Maskesi ve göğüs kuşağı siyah, göz halkası sarıdır. Kaşı ince ve beyazdır. İki yandan gelerek tepesinde birleşir. Gagası siyah bacakları soluk sarıdır. Gencinin göz halkası belirgindir, alnı açık renkli, gözünün gerisi koyu renkli, göğüs kuşağı kesiktir. Kanat çizgisi yoktur.
Kumlu ve çakıllı göl kıyıları ile akarsularda görülür.
Böcekler, tırtıl, ve solucanlar, küçük sürüngenler.
"piiuu" ve "pip pip pip " ayrıca küçük sumruyu andıran pürüzlü bir sestir. Ötüşü sesinin trillere bezenmiş tekrarıdır.
